HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Today I ask for some imagination. I’d ask you to close your eyes, but then how would you read, silly. So you’ll have to do your best with some eye opening imagining. Here goes...
Today you are going to start by imagining my special bucket. It is like no bucket you have ever seen. It is special to me. I love my bucket, it is my very own. Just like each and every snowflake, this bucket is different than all other buckets. It is individual in every way and it it is perfect in every way. My bucket is perfectly made, perfectly made by God’s love. My bucket is me.
Mine is a fierce bucket with bold colors and glitter. It’s not simple, it’s complex; it has beautiful artwork and a mod-podge of pictures of all the things that are special to me...my husband, my kids, my dogs. There is a brilliant sun on my picture shining over everything and everyone...that represents how God is shining through my life. There are pictures of the things that spark joy to me. There is a lot of room left for more pictures and drawings. You see my bucket isn’t completely finished yet, there is more room for the future, wants and dreams and experiences. It’s like my life, it’s not completely written yet. There are choices yet to be made and stories yet to be told, dreams yet to be thought of and pursued.
Some of the art is symmetrical, some of it is random. I like some things to be perfectly aligned in my life and organized while other things are okay to be free hand.
While the outside of my bucket is colorful and beautiful, the inside is a steady turquoise. It reminds me of pool and the water is clear and beautiful and glistens in the light. The water is love and there is a spout that pours the water into my bucket. I think of it as God’s love for me, it never stop flowing. There is water constantly moving. The flow of my water represents my relationship with God, for you it might represent something else. While everyone has the same size spout the water flowing out, sometimes we turn down our spout ourselves sometimes our spout gets blocked and covered up.
My bucket is quite large because I like to share my water...I like to share the love...I like to help people. I call myself the number one helper. Sometimes though I begin helping so much that the water in my bucket begins to diminish. I stop taking care of my bucket and then I don’t have enough water to give to those people’s bucket in my life that really need my water...including myself, my husband, my kids, those core friends and family in my life.
My bucket wouldn’t have any rust because I work constantly to keep it clean. It is shiny all over, but it isn’t perfect. It has some holes in it. Those holes keep me from sharing my love. Mine has lots of holes. Many that have been patched but some that are still leaking water. And though I keep patching my holes, I can get new holes, so I have to continue to keep repairing and cleaning my bucket.
Can you see it? Now how about your bucket? Start thinking about what your bucket looks like. Some things may be similar but it is going to be different from mine, it is very unique. What does yours look like? What color is it? Is it a regular tin bucket or made of gold? Is it smooth or does it have some roughness to it. Does it have a lot of holes that need to be patched or just a few? Do you need to work on repairing your bucket right now. Is it rusting or is your bucket shining brightly? How about your spout of water? Is the water flowing rapidly or just a trickle. Is your bucket full or is it empty? Are you sharing your water or keeping it all for yourself?
I’m actually feeling inspired to make a representation of my bucket. Will you do this with me and share it? Will you write up what your bucket looks like or do a video so that I can see it? Should we call it the #2018bucketchallenge? This would be a beautiful way to start the New Year. Who is in?
I’m new to this blogging thing so if this inspired you or you are going to take the challenge, would you please share this so others can feel inspired as well?
